Mercedes-Benz C-Class W205 underwent a facelift for the model year 2019. Some of the novelties include fuel efficient EQ Boost engines, as well as virtual instrument cluster. Mercedes-Benz C200 now gets a 1.5 litre petrol engine. Does this mean at least you can have a Mercedes on the cheap?

Starting price: 32 000 euro
As tested: 60 000 euro

  1. Having to walk around to the boot of the vehicle (a real hassle I know – NOT!) to release the rear seat backs is by design. It is designed so you can place luggage in the boot, flick a switch in the glove box to prevent the boot from being opened and then lock the glove box using the mechanical key. You then remove the mechanical key from the key fob. Then when you're at a hotel, you can have your vehicle valet parked and the boot is secure. The valet cannot open the boot by normal means nor can they access the boot by folding down the rear seats (they'd have to have access to the boot to do this). I don't understand why you make this carefully thought out feature sound like a design flaw.

  2. Finally someone who has the same thoughts about the Merc C Class as me. I like that your reviews are not glossed with sugar. Most other reviewers sing high praise about the C Class, but my experience driving that car for 2 weeks was very disappointing when I had the 3 series on loan too for comparison.

  3. The most stupid car reviewer i have ever seen. The C-class is the most comfortable car you can get. Specially on the highway. I own one and it is great on the highways. Stop the bullshit!

  4. If only Mercedes partnered with the other French engine manufacturer. And about premium brands I personally don’t give a poo 💩. Yes the badge is nice but that’s all. And please stop with the proverbial build quality, it’s not worth triple the price.

  5. I think premium is about qualities that run deeper than tech and gizmos. It's about interior ambience, refinement, long term durability, fit and finish and the thoroughness of engineering.

  6. I strongly disagree that a premium car needs a big engine. There are lots of guys buying premium for silence. I'm quite sure that this 1.5 liter 184hp car can easily do 130kmh having some extra space under the pedal to overtake. So, I'd buy premium for silence. For comfy ergo seats even not fully electric ones. For burmeister audio system.

  7. I accidentally clicked on your non-English version of the video and noticed you 'sound' more 'energetic' in the other video. What's the backstory? All kidding aside, continued appreciation for the quality of your work. Have a great weekend.

  8. I guess you wont be testing any more Mercedes Benz's after this review 😏
But having driven a C class myself i must agree with you – not really premium driving experience at all .
Good think than that dumb insecure yuppies don't cross shop much

  9. Regading introduction, I must say that I disagree. Maybe it was like that 40y ago, but today… Today mb and other german premium are more in infotaiment than car itself. For example A class; Renault DIESEL(R.Diesel died in 1905) and torsion beam?? But hey, car talks ! Toyota ( lexus) are really inovative with their hybrid power trains, Tesla too, but they are still too exotic

  10. Most buyers of this car only care about the badge. They will buy it even with less specification and poorer dynamics just because it says Mercedes.

  11. So this is an overpriced mediocre car which offers nothing new but is somehow a better buy than .. I don't know, almost any other car in the same league, because it's a mercedes? No sane person could compare this car to the competition and say, yes this is better than the rest and I'm gonna buy it. People who buy only by brand name deserve the mediocre experience, the shitty customer support and the tax on stupidity.
